In recent years, the change in sensitivity towards the environment and its resources has lead to a necessary revision of political, social and economic priorities.

Use of renewable energy sources, sustainable materials, care over the recycling of waste, limiting waste and protecting the eco-system are subjects at the center of daily lives, both public and private.

Buildings are responsible for 40% of European energy consumption and significantly contribute to global polluting emissions. Renewal of building practices is now needed.

Moreover, the new social dynamics imposed by the pandemic and reduced investments give building the unique chance to evolve and become a fundamental tool of innovation.

The Green Buildings concept, that is buildings designed to pollute less guaranteeing a better quality of life for inhabitants, is the result of that need.

More specifically, a Green Building is one that, from design to execution and building stages, is conceived to be both performative and sustainable, for the well-being of those living in it and for its ecological impact.

Based on the building works sustained and a building’s performance in terms of water and energy consumption, CO2 emissions, etc, there are various types of certification that guarantee compliance with the standards required.

Though the green building trend is growing from a residential point of view, the service sector still has a lot more to do to sustainably adjust its infrastructures.

Efficient structures and zero-emission materials

More specifically the IT sector is responsible for a significant part of the increase in the global demand for energy and in CO2 emissions. It must give itself efficient structures built with zero emission facilities and materials.  

There are many ways to limit the use of resources during each stage of the building process; like selecting those natural materials that are recycled or recyclable during the design stage; or preferring lightweight materials with lower transport costs than heavy ones.
