Collaboration with Universities

The need to operate in secure digital environments is a priority for Education

The field of education was the worst hit by the health restrictions.

The world suddenly found itself faced with an urgent need to overturn the paradigms of one of the most traditional institutional structures, well aware that each choice would influence the lives and careers of millions of youngsters.

One of the oldest, most prestigious Milanese Universities had to re-invent its operational model, reorganising workforce, activities and structures. And to do so it turned to STIM.

A more modern, accessible university

A priority for the University was to equip itself, as fast as possible, with the technologies needed to manage e-Learning in the best way possible; favouring the needs that the different course and lesson types can demand.

In collaboration with Ligra, STIM designed a latest generation camera system to record contents and stream them live.

The size and functions of the rooms to be fitted out then indicated specific expedients to be adopted; video cameras with auto-tracking features that follow the speaker for lessons and conferences, implementing different integrated workstations for the largest rooms, systems dedicated to both audio/video transmission and recording for multi-functional spaces.

A tailored system for each classroom

The PTZ310 model was chosen for the large classrooms; it offers a higher video quality for versatile recordings and with no interruptions between pre-set areas. Whereas the VC502+ in combination with the speakerphone (covering up to 9 metres 360°) was the perfect solution chosen for smaller rooms, suited to professor-student interaction that was totally remote.

For hybrid classrooms, contemplating both in-house lessons and e-learning, the choice was the model Cam520 PRO, equipped with total, high class 18X zoom which frames all participants present, adapting the image automatically.

Thanks to this procedure, the University was able to continue its lessons, exams and activities planned, even at this complex time, counting on a simple, efficient and secure technological system.
